I work small

A few days ago I was working late into the night cutting small shapes for an illustration, when I suddenly stopped and wondered… why do I work so small?!

For some reason, this thought had never occurred to me before.

I thought that maybe it was to save time and resources. Less paint and paper to use and less things to cut.
But it also felt like making precise and tiny scissor snips – trying to make something to look just right, and trying over and over again until it does – is pretty much the opposite of time-effectiveness.

Then, a friend then mentioned that people who work small have a tendency to be perfectionists.

That makes a lot of sense.
